Design Sprint is a process for solving big problems, creating new products, or improving existing digital products, such as websites and apps.
Design Sprints are a faster way to find out the best approach to develop a product or feature, and even if it is worth developing. Why invest months of work when it is possible to invest only one week and still learn while testing with the final public?
Design Sprint reduces the cost and time of the project, as it is not necessary to reach the development stage to learn from the user. Besides, it allows for the collaborative construction of a solution, since the participation of the client team - in addition to us, designers - is essential during the first two days of the sprint. That ensures that the team is aligned and that all knowledge about the project is shared.
This process is ideal for high-risk projects, especially when the traditional method of development would require a lot of time or high cost. Also, it is a great approach for solutions to major challenges and can act as a propellant for projects that are difficult to start.
The result of the Design Sprint allows a clear discernment of what are the next steps to move forward with the project. So that no crucial information is lost, we are in charge of producing a document with the main points discussed and decisions for each day, in addition to the test's learnings.
Since we have a tangible representation of the product in our hands with feedback from real users to guide our next steps, it is easier for a product owner to make decisions. It is also possible to run a second sprint to iterate, polish, and make the idea as close as possible to the final product. It is also possible to use the sprint prototype to help sell the idea and further develop the product concept.
The objective of the project was to create and define the main characteristics of a new fitness application for a customer who already had a gym in Brasília, Brazil. The client's specific need was to offer online fitness classes during the COVID-19 lockdowns. The challenge of the project was to have an idea of an application that was different from others currently available in the Brazilian market. The concept was created after three weeks of immersion, market research, and a remote Design Sprint.
The first week was an immersion with the client's team to understand the people and potential users of the app, the worldwide fitness app market, and to align their requirements well with the client. For this, we use some methodologies to facilitate the process, such as conducting interviews and creating personas, CSD Matrix, analysis of competitors, and a visual Moodboard.
After the immersion week, we conducted a sprint design remotely with the participation of our design team, strategy designer Igor Saraiva and customers.
In the last week of the project, our team built a document with the most valuable points found in the Design Sprint from the previous week. At this stage, our team had already learned enough to build a user story map containing key application functionality. That helped the client to visualize the next steps with the product roadmap for its continuity.

We had the challenge of working with several digital products from a large national company, which focuses on promoting entrepreneurship in Brazil. Among digital design deliveries, research, and different design thinking workshops that we had the opportunity to apply, we were able to run Design Sprints with some of the client's teams interested in innovation. At that time, we attacked projects from different segments, such as chatbot with artificial intelligence, a digital platform for board meetings, a crowdsourcing project, and e-commerce. It was a year of really hard work, but also with incredible results!

It was the first remote Design Sprint experiment conducted at Snowland. Chunk is Snowland's initiative to share chunks of UX-related content with the market to promote knowledge in the area. We took advantage of Snowland's team expertise and the need to share knowledge with other professionals in the design field and interested entrepreneurs. Chunk was build to be a web platform with video lessons on technical subjects, starting with the digital product universe.
The main goal of the project was to make up-to-date and relevant quality content accessible in the UX segment, in addition to retaining students and being profitable. The Design Sprint week was full of many challenges and learnings - which we later documented so that we didn't miss any information - and the project could proceed on the right track.

When it comes to health care, time is even more valuable.
With Design Sprint in full swing, we challenged ourselves by applying the methodology in 2016 to solve a major common challenge in the lives of all of us: more often than not, trying to make a medical appointment – or canceling one – isn’t as simple and easy as it should be. Both health professionals and clients must rely on the help of third parties, such as assistants, secretaries, and health insurance employees, or even luck. Taking into account, also, the possibility of being a delicate moment for the patient. An easier and simpler way to make appointments with health professionals may solve most – if not all – of those problems. Our goal was to make it easier for health professionals and clients to communicate, especially when scheduling an appointment, rescheduling, or canceling it, to minimize difficulties. Docyon App was developed to make this entire process smoother. Here are some of the features we created for this app:
Autonomy on making an appointment for the patient - without having to call during office hours :)
The advance of data for health plan authorization
Health professionals are now able to view the schedules of several service points in an integrated manner.
Last-minute deselection? With the fitting alert, the patient gets an appointment earlier than expected and the professional has no gaps on his calendar.
